Pet peeve (= เรื่องที่ทำให้หงุดหงิดใจประจำ) อย่างหนึ่งของผมคือหมายเลขโทรศัพท์ “8 หลัก” ในกรุงเทพฯ ความจริงก็ไม่ได้เปลี่ยนอะไรมากมายจากของเดิม เพียงแค่ต้องกดรหัสเมือง 02 เพิ่มก่อนที่จะกดเบอร์เก่า ตามตรรกะนี้ เบอร์ใหม่ควรเขียนเป็น 02-555-1212 (หมายเลขสมมุติน่ะครับ ไปตรงกับเบอร์ใครเข้าก็ขออภัย) โดยให้ 02 เป็นเบอร์คงที่ และจำแค่เลข 7 หลักตามเดิม แต่ที่ไหนได้ ผมเห็นแต่เขียนเป็น 0-2555-1212 กันเป็นแถว ยังกะว่าเลข 0 เป็นตัวคงที่ นอกนั้นต้องกดเลข 8 หลัก ซึ่งขึ้นต้นด้วย 2 เหมือนกันหมด ใครไม่เคยมาเมืองไทยก็ต้องเข้าใจว่าต้องกดเลข 8 ตัว คือ 2555-1212 แต่ก็ไม่ใช่อีก เพราะต้องกด 0 ด้วย จะเรียกว่าเลข 8 หลักก็เรียกไปเหอะ แต่อย่าสร้างความสับสนโดยไม่จำเป็นเลย แค่นี้เด็กไทยก็ไอคิวต่ำลงเรื่อยๆ อยู่แล้ว
